TITLE: Episode IV.I - Tag and Bink Are Dead

Summary

Our "heroes", Tag and Bink, are rebel troopers aboard Princess Leia's cruiser, the Tantive IV. As stormtroopers begin boarding the Tantive IV, Tag and Bink run for their lives and try to hide in a compartment. Unluckily for them, they bump into a very noisy C-3PO, and get captured.

Somehow, Tag and Bink manage to knock out their stormtrooper captors. They take and put on the stormtroopers' uniforms and end up on the Death Star. By sheer luck and blind incompetency, our heroes end up having a part in many key events of Star Wars history. They end up escorting Darth Vader as his wingmen during the Death Star battle, and end up getting shot by Han Solo and the Millenium Falcon. Will they survive??!?

Opinion

Kevin Rubio presents a hilarious take on the Star Wars mythos. He's no stranger to slicing up the Star Wars universe. He wrote two short stories for Dark Horse's Star Wars Tales, "A Death Star Is Born" and "Force Fiction." He also wrote and directed the hilarious short film, "Troops," which combines "Cops" with Star Wars.

With "Tag and Bink," Rubio throws in a lot of inside jokes and references. If you blink, you'll miss the nod to The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. But it's hard not to notice Bob's Big Boy inside the Death Star. Hey, stormtroopers and grand moffs have to eat too, right?

Conclusion

"Star Wars: Tag and Bink Are Dead" is a pretty funny comic book. It pokes fun at the Star Wars franchise so openly and brutally that it's a minor miracle that George Lucas allowed it to exist. If you're a Star Wars fan who can enjoy a little satire, you'll enjoy this hilarious send-up.
